● Describes it as a big bang in petroleum refining, storage, distribution, and retailing
Energy expert and international business consultant, Mr Dan D. Kunle, has described the Dangote Refinery initiative to freely distribute petroluem products to marketers and others as a big bang in the petroleum refining, storage, distribution and retailing in Nigeria.
Kunle said that the Nigeria Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority [NMDPRA] was consequently due for an urgent overhaul.
According to him, “If the midstream and downstream regulatory Authority is not quickly reorganised, the authority will continue to be a clog in the wheel of the new era.
“It is time to remove the cancer. NNPC Limited must stop using our upstream oil and gas profits to fund the midstream Regulatory Authority.
“All NNPC’s refineries are now due for immediate liquidation. All the PPMC’s depots and products pipelines, long moribund, are now due for liquidation.
“Federal Government of Nigeria, NNPC Limited will be saving trillions of Naira as Dangote Refinery Complex will use her efficient capacity scales to absorb those trillions on behalf of Nigerians.”
Kunle stated that a historical moment was here.
Noting that the equalisation fund, in spirit and letter, were good, as decreed by Gen Yakubu Gowon in 1975, he said the fund was poorly managed by all successive governments, except President Bola Tinubu’s administration which has put an end to the scam.
He said: “Dangote Refinery is now restoring the good spirit and letter henceforth. President Bola Tinubu has succeeded in belling the cat.
“With the private sector leadership of Aliko Dangote, a new era is born for the petroleum refining, storage and distributions in Nigeria.”
Kunle congratulated President Tinubu, Aliko Dangote, and his team, as well as all the good people of Nigeria on the birth of this new era.
