The Chairman of Ivo Local Government Area of Ebonyi, Chief Emmanuel Aja has launched a sensitisation campaign aimed at boosting the number of eligible voters participating in the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise.

The campaign tagged “Operation Show Us Your Voter’s Card” was launched following reports that Ivo ranked lowest in the state’s voter registration index in spite its large adult population.

A statement issued by Mr Ibeabuchi Ogadimma, Chief Protocol/ Information Officer of Ivo LGA and available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday in Abakaliki, said the launch took place at Isiaka, the council headquarters on Wednesday.

Ogbonna said that the initiative was designed to mobilise residents and ensure that the area was no longer left behind in such an important national exercise organised by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The chairman said that to encourage participation, the council had provided mobility assistance, refreshments and other welfare packages to support residents taking part in the exercise at the council headquarters, Isiaka.

“We will not settle for being the least in this very important democratic process; every eligible adult in Ivo must be part of shaping the future by obtaining their voter’s card.

“Spread the message widely under the slogan: “Tell a friend to tell another,” Ogbonna said.

He called on traditional rulers, youth groups and community-based organisations to join hands with the council to ensure that no eligible voter was left unregistered.

NAN reports that INEC commenced the nationwide CVR exercise on Aug. 18, for Nigerians who have attained voting age pegged at 18 years or changed residence to register and get their Permanent Voters Card (PVC) ahead of the 2027 general elections.
