A Civil Society Organisation (CSO), Bosso Solidarity Front has commended the Department of State Services (DSS) for successfully neutralising several bandits during a recent operation in Niger State.
The DSS-led operation, which earlier reports said “resulted in the dislodgement of scores of insurgents believed to be loyalists of notorious terrorist leaders Dogo Gide and Leyi, also led to the recovery of a cache of arms and ammunition from the neutralised bandits.”
The statement by Ibrahim Tijjani also appreciated what it described as the “timely intervention” by DSS operatives, saying the move resulted in the protection of several towns and villages in the area from the bandits.
The DSS intervention came on the heels of an attack on Chibani village in Munya Local Government Area of Niger State, where the terrorists killed an innocent civilian and wounded others, including a police officer.
“The swift and coordinated response by the DSS not only neutralised the grave threat posed by over 200 bandits wielding sophisticated weapons, but also restored a sense of security and safety to the affected communities,” noted the group.
The civil society group further lauded the leadership of Mr Tosin Ajayi, the Director General of the DSS, for “his professionalism and determination to rid the country of criminal elements.”
The group said that “Mr. Ajayi’s strategic vision and unwavering commitment have been instrumental to the success of this operation. It does further underscore the outstanding contributions of the Service to national security and peacekeeping efforts.
“This operation demonstrates the professionalism and effectiveness of the DSS under the exceptional stewardship of Mr. Tosin Ajayi,” the group said.
“His leadership does inspire confidence and reflects the agency’s dedication to safeguarding lives and property across Nigeria,” it stated.
The group called on all stakeholders to support ongoing security initiatives and praised the DSS for their courage and determination in confronting threats to peace and stability in Niger State.
