Civil Society Action Coalition on Education (CSACEFA) has called on Nigeria governments to increase enrollment of out-of-school girls by 3% in six states of Benue, Oyo, Kastina, Adamawa, Ebonyi and Edo.

CSACEFA’s call was made during a training and orientation workshop held recently in Benin for state coordinators on policy formulation, implementation, monitoring and media engagement.

The training programme also served as a medium for the launch of Education Out Loud (EOL) in Edo State.

A facilitator of the training workshop, Ms Damian Mary, said EOL was the Global Partnership for Education (GPE) fund for advocacy and social accountability.

“The fund supports civil societies to be active and influential in shaping education policy to better meet the needs of communities, especially of vulnerable and marginalized populations such as girls.

“The overall goal of CSACEFA is to ensure improved access to quality education for girls.”

According to her, the objective of the training and orientation programme included “intimating State Coordinators and relevant stakeholders on the project process and their roles in the above mentioned States; building the capacity of CSOs to engage with and hold States policy actors and duty bearers accountable; and to strengthen CSOs and citizens to campaign for improved provision of girls education and education sector plans.”

The team of CSACEFA was led by Dr Mrs Abikwe Margaret in advocacy visit to the Permanent Secretary, Edo State Ministry of Education, included LAPO, GPI, AWEG, IYO, WOYCAP, Project Charilove, and SOTHAWACA.
