COVID-19 Update: NCDC reports 17 new cases, no death in 24 hours

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), on Tuesday, announced that it had registered 17 new cases of Coronavirus (COVID-19).

With these new cases, it stated that the total numbers of infections in the country now stood at 166,534 confirmed cases.

As of Tuesday, 1 June, 2021, the public health agency had recorded no COVID-19-related deaths.

The total fatalities in Nigeria are 2,099 deaths.

The NCDC made these known in an update via its official Twitter handle @NCDCgov.

It stated that the 17 new cases were reported from 5 states, including: – Lagos (8), Rivers (5), Kano (2), Kaduna (1), Plateau (1).

It added that with the new cases, the total numbers of confirmed infections since the outbreak of the pandemic in the country had risen to 166,534 out of which 159,935 Covid-19 patients had been discharged.

The NCDC further noted that there were now 7,657 active cases across the country in the last 24 hours and it had so far carried out sample test on 2,093,243 persons since the outbreak of the pandemic, last year.

It also said that a multi-sector national Emergency Operations Centre (EOC), activated at Level 3, was co-ordinating response activities nationwide.
