COVID-19 Update: NCDC reports 1,588 new cases, six deaths

The Nigerian Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), on Saturday night, announced 1,588 new cases of COVID-19, bringing the total infections in the country to 139,242 cases.

The health agency disclosed that Lagos had the highest daily record of the fresh cases with-535, Anambra-218, Oyo-155, FCT-150, Kano-124, Gombe-60, Kaduna-49, Ebonyi-48, Plateau 46, Akwa Ibom-39, Niger-37, Edo-33, Katsina-23, Rivers-18, Taraba-15, Nasarawa-14, Ogun-11, Delta-9, Ekiti-2 and Jigawa-2.

The data from the agency disclosed that six deaths occurred in the country in the last 24 hours, as the fatality figure increased from 1,641 on Friday to 1,647 on Saturday.

The agency said 918 patients were discharged in the last 24 hours as the figure of discharged cases stood at 112,557 while 25,038 cases were still active in the country.

The agency explained that discharges on Saturday included 498 community recoveries in Lagos State, 64 in Kano State and 54 in Plateau State managed in line with guidelines.
