The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), on Monday, announced that it registered seven new cases of Coronavirus (COVID-19) as of Sunday, bringing the number of infections in the country to 165,709.
The agency recorded no COVID-19-related deaths, leaving the fatalities figure in Nigeria at 2,066.
The NCDC made this known in an update via its official Twitter handle @NCDCgov
It said that the seven new cases were reported from two states, namely: Niger (5) and Rivers (2).
It added that with the new cases, the number of confirmed infections since the outbreak of the pandemic in the country had risen to 165,709.
Of the number, 156,413 Covid-19 patients had been discharged.
The NCDC further said that there were now 7,195 active cases across the country in the last 24 hours and that it had so far carried out sample test on 1,977,479 persons since the outbreak of the pandemic, last year.
It also said that a multi-sector national Emergency Operations Centre (EOC), activated at Level 3, was coordinating response activities nationwide
