COVID-19 Update: NCDC records 50 new infections, country total now 163,113

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) on Sunday announced that it had registered 50 new cases of Coronavirus (COVID-19), bringing the total number of infections in the country to 163,113.

As of Saturday (3rd April, 2021), the Centre recorded no COVID-19-related deaths, leaving the total fatalities in Nigeria at 2,058 deaths.

The NCDC made this known in an update via its official Twitter handle @NCDCgov

It said that 50 new cases were reported from 6 states- Lagos(27), Plateau (11), Bayelsa (7), Gombe (3), Nasarawa (1) and Ekiti (1).

It added that with the new cases, the total number of confirmed infections since the outbreak of the pandemic in the country had risen to 163,113 confirmed cases, out of which 151,835 had been discharged.

The NCDC said that there were now 9,202 active cases across the country in the last 24 hours and it had so far carried out sample test on 1,767,694 persons infection last year.

It also said that a multi-sector national Emergency Operations Centre (EOC), activated at Level 3, was coordinating response activities nationwide.
