The Chairman Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria, Osun State Branch, Comrade Adebowale Olubunmi Adekola has condemned the gale of retrenchment in some states while commending Governor Gboyega Oyetola of the state for having cordial relationship with the entire workers of the state.
Comrade Adekola, who is also the Chair of Trade Union Congress, TUC, Osun State Council, stated this in an interview with our correspondent in Osogbo, the Osun State Capital.
“It was unfortunate that some indigenes of the country had become victims of indiscriminate mass sacking by their employers as coronavirus hit the economy since March this year,” the union leader said.
According to Comrade Adekola, sacking employees without any reason was not a solution to the current situations in the country, adding that despite the ugly situation, Governor Adegboyega Oyetola was doing well towards the uplift of the entire workers in the state.
He gave kudos to the governor for not dabble into retrenchment of the civil servants in the state saying his efforts towards the upliftment of the entire workforce cannot be over emphasised.
His words, “Our amiable Governor Oyetola is working round the clock to ensure betterment of workers in his state by paying our full salary as at when due without any stress.
“His concern is total welfare of his workers while he is relating with us with openness, transparency and accountability.
“Even, for Governor Oyetola to have pardoned 962 workers in the state who were demoted for committing administrative infractions, this is highly commendable, for him to have retrenched the affected civil servants, he ordered their immediate reinstatement, this is wonderful, other state governors should emulate his good gesture.
“When it comes to the welfare of the entire workers in Osun today, Governor Oyetola is fantastic and always make himself available for any dialogue, ” he said.
Comrade Adekola however enjoined his members across board to continue to demonstrate their support to him in order to move the union forward.
