Covid-19: Nigeria not ready for International flights – Sirika

Nigeria’s Minister of Aviation, Senator Hadi Sirika has disclosed that the country is not ready to open her international airspace for international flight activities.

Speaking in Abuja at Monday’s Presidential Task Force (PTF) on Coronavirus (Covid-19) press briefing, Sirika said the Federal Government would not rush the restart of international flights in and out of Nigeria.

According to him the PTF and relevant agencies in the aviation industry were still brainstorming on the best time to allow for resumption of international flights, adding that when the situation was right international flights would resume without further delay.

The Minister however stated that passengers would be required to be at the airports three hours before departure of the flights to enable them go through all the airport checks without much troubles.

Sirika said that PTF had reviewed downward the time for local flights passengers to arrive at the airport, pointing out that passengers were now required to be at the airport an hour and a half for the check-in formalities.

He also said the PTF was happy that local foft had resumed without hitches hence he commended stakeholders in the aviation industry for the success so far achieved.
