COVID-19 kills 22, infects 1,861 persons in last 24 hours, says NCDC

The Nigerian Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), on Wednesday, announced 1,861 new cases of COVID-19 infections in the country.

The health agency disclosed that Lagos had the highest record of the fresh cases with-773, FCT-285, Oyo-138, Rivers-111, Plateau-92, Nasarawa-83, Kaduna-59, Enugu-57, Imo-57, Edo-43, Kano-27, Kwara-20, Ebonyi-19, Abia-17, Ogun-12, Osun-12, Katsina-8, Bayelsa-6, Bauchi-5, Delta-5, Borno-4, Jigawa-4 and Zamfara-1.

The data from the agency disclosed that 22 deaths occurred in the country in the last 24 hours, as the fatality figure increased from 1,522 on Tuesday to 1,544 on Wednesday.

The agency said 1,089 patients were discharged in the last 24 hours as the figure of discharged cases stood at 100,365 while 24,251 cases were still active in the country.

The agency said the discharges on Wednesday included 697 community recoveries in Lagos State, 128 in Rivers State and 116 in Plateau State managed in line with guidelines.
