The Nigerian Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), on Thursday night, announced 1,964 new cases of COVID-19 infections in the country, the highest daily figure yet, triggering further anxiety in government.
The health agency disclosed that Lagos had the highest record of the fresh cases with-824, FCT-246, Plateau-166, Kaduna-128, Ogun-76, Nasarawa-74, Anambra-69, Edo-50, Rivers-45, Ondo-44, Niger-40, Oyo-38, Adamawa-35, Kano-31, Akwa Ibom-27, Gombe-19, Kwara-13, Ekiti-12, Delta-6, Kebbi-6, Bauchi-5, Ebonyi-4, Osun-3 and Zamfara-1.
The agency said seven deaths occurred in the country in the last 24 hours, as the fatality figure increased from 1,478 on Wednesday to 1,485 on Thursday.
The data from the agency disclosed that 1,310 patients were discharged in the last 24 hours as the figure of discharged cases stood at 93,646 while 21,524 cases were still active in the country.
NCDC further explained that the discharges on Thursday included 798 community recoveries in Lagos State and 191 community recoveries in Ondo State managed in line with guidelines.
