A Jos Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday sentenced a 38-year-old security guard, Jurbe Solomon, to nine months in prison for trespassing and stealing money.
The Magistrate, Shawomi Bokkos, summarily tried and sentenced the convict who pleaded guilty to the charge.
Bokkos, in her judgement, gave the convict an option of fine of N20, 000 or spend three months in prison.
She also ordered the convict to pay a compensation of N68, 000 to the complainant or spend another six months in default.
Earlier, the prosecutor, Insp Daniel Longwal, told the court that the case was reported at the Anglo-Jos Police Station on April 14, by one Justina Timarli, the complainant.
Longwal said that the convict went to the shop and stole cash of N75, 000 as well as the complainant’s house keys before he was caught.
During police investigation, it was discovered that the convict had already spent N68, 000 out of the money.
The prosecutor said that the offence contravened the Plateau Penal Code Law.
