The Chief Magistrates’ Court sitting in the Ikeja area of Lagos State has remanded a teenager, Isreal Mendi, in Kirikiri Correctional Centre over the alleged defilement of his neighbour’s four-year-old daughter.
The Chief Magistrate, M. F. Onamusi, on Friday, declined to take the teenager’s plea and directed his remand until April 9, 2026, pending advice from the office of the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP).
Mendi, who resides in the Ajah area of Lagos, is facing trial for alleged defilement.
The Prosecutor, ASP Adegoke Ademigbuji, told the court that the offence was committed at the defendant’s residence on February 16.
Ademigbuji said Mendi lured the girl into his room under the pretext of sending her to her brother, and forcefully had carnal knowledge of her.
He added that the offence contravened Section 137 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
