The Federal High Court in Abuja has barred the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) from recognising former Senate President David Mark and ex-Osun State Governor Rauf Aregbesola as interim leaders of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
The interim order, granted by Justice Emeka Nwite, followed a motion ex parte filed on September 2, 2025, by Nafiu Gombe.
In the suit, the ADC, Mark, and Aregbesola were listed as first to third defendants, while INEC and former ADC national chairman Ralph Nwosu were named as fourth and fifth defendants.
Justice Nwite’s ruling also restrained INEC from acknowledging any representatives of Mark and Aregbesola in official capacity until the hearing of the substantive motion on notice.
INEC had earlier updated its website to reflect Mark as interim national chairman and Aregbesola as national secretary of the party before the court’s intervention.
