The Lagos State High Court in Ikeja has ruled that the removal of Mudashiru Obasa as Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly was unlawful, unconstitutional, and therefore null and void.
In its verdict delivered on Wednesday, the court also invalidated all proceedings and resolutions made by the House on January 13, 2025 — the day Obasa was removed from office.
Obasa had challenged his removal in court.
He had filed a suit against the House of Assembly and Mojisola Meranda, who had been appointed Speaker in his stead.
The judgment has effectively restored Obasa to his position and voided the legislative actions taken during the disputed session.
