COP28: Nigerian Govt holds stakeholders’ engagement on Nationally Determined Contributions in devt planning, budgeting in Dubai

The Federal Ministry of Buget and Economic Planning is driving a shareholders’ engagement on mainstreaming nationally determined contributions (NDC) into development planning and budgeting at COP28 in Dubai.

The engagement is holding on Monday at Blue Zone, Zone B3, Building 33, Nigerian Pavilion, COP28, dubai, UAE, according to Durector of Social Development on the Ministry, Dr Sanjo Faniran, who will moderate the session.

Minister of Buget and Economic Planning, Senator Abubakar Atiku Bagudu, is scheduled to make the opening statement that focuses on the vision, political commitment, and actions of the Government of Nigeria towards mobilisation of domestic resources for climate action and integration into national/state budget to enhance implementation of the NDC.

Five panel discussions will undergird the session, including those of the Ghanaian Minister of Environment, Technology and Innovation, Dr Kwaku Afriyie, who will take the session through Ghana’s progress on financing NDC impementation with focus on Article 6 of the Paris Agreement.

Chairman, Nigeria Economic Summit Group, NESG, Yusuf Okaniyi Mumini, will run through :’ Redefining green investments and orofits- Bysiness case for private sector- led imementation of national climate actions.

THE CONCLAVE reports that the Commissioner for Economic Planning in Ebonyi Stae, Deborah Chinwe Akah, will speak on “Shstainable perspectives of realisation of climate investments at grassroots level for development and growth.

While Pablo Veira, on behalf of NDC partnership, will talk on “Innovative approaches for financing NDC implementation challenges and lessons learnt, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Nebolisa Anako, will give the closing statement.
