Concerned legislative aides both at the Senate and House of Representatives have appealed to the Acting Clerk to the National Assembly, CNA, Sani Magaji Tambuwal, to consider the lingering salary arears and allowances of legislative aides from 2019 to date.

Their call came against the background of reports doing the rounds about the planned payments of allowances of core staff of National Assembly and National Assembly Service Commission NASC.

According to the legislative they had protested for too long on non-payment of allowances ranging from duty tour allowances, DTA, and salary arears, amkng others, from June to December 2019 as well as minimum wage.

They appealed to the new Ag CNA, Sani Magaji Tambuwal, to turn put an end to the age-long discrimination and administrative anomaly targeted against legislative aides of federal lawmakers.

“We are political appointees; why not treat us like our principals rather than short-changing us of our entitlements already appropriated in the budgets since 2019.

“With few months to the end of the 9th Assembly, we beg the Ag CNA, Sani Magaji Tambuwal that this is an opportunity to write his name in gold, away from former CNA, Amos Olatunde Ojo’s distraction and ill advice.”

The concerned legislative aides said they had explored all necessary avenues including anti-graft agencies with no positive response, saying the Ag CNA should not allow the outgoing CNA to get away with the slush funds.

The concerned legislative aides expressed sadness on the position of its leadership who appeared compromised and not bothered by the welfare of its members.

They expressed confidence in the new leadership with wealth of experience and administrative wizardry to lead the National Assembly management.
