Compensate families of kidnapped school children, MMU tells FG

The Men’s Missionary Union (MMU) has called on the Federal and Kaduna State governments to compensate all the families whose children were kidnapped at the Bethel Baptist High School and other kidnapped victims. The group also admonishes the federal government to take the war to the kidnappers.

The congress in a communique signed by its President, Dr. Soye Asawo at the end of the 41st annual congress of the Men’s Missionary Union (MMU) of the Nigerian Baptist Convention (NBC) held from 17th – 20th day of August 2021, at first Baptist church, Garki, Abuja, sympathised with the parents, students and Kaduna Baptist Conference on the kidnapping of our dear students of Bethel Baptist High School.

The congress also condemned in strong terms the Jos killing, and sympathised with all the families that lost their breadwinners or loved one and asked government to stop paying lip service to the fight against banditry and insurgency.

COMMUNIQUE OF THE 41ST ANNUAL CONGRESS OF THE MEN’S MISSIONARY UNION (MMU) OF THE NIGERIAN BAPTIST CONVENTION (NBC) HELD FROM 17TH – 20TH DAY OF AUGUST 2021, AT FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH, GARKI, ABUJA
COMMUNIQUE
Bethel Baptist High School Kaduna
1. Congress Sympathies with the parents, students and Kaduna Baptist Conference on the kidnapping of our dear students of Bethel Baptist High School. Thanking God for those students released, and for those still in captivity, that God Almighty will grant them Freedom soon. Consequently, congress calls on the Federal Government and the Kaduna State Government to do everything within their power to rescue the remaining students from their kidnappers.
2. That Federal and Kaduna State Government should compensate all the Families whose children were kidnaped at the Bethel Baptist High School and other kidnapped victims and admonish the Federal Government to take the war to the kidnappers.
Jos Killing
3. Congress Condemn in strong terms the Jos killing, and sympathies with all the families that lost their breadwinners or loved one. Congress asks government to stop paying lip service to the fight against banditry and insurgency.
4. Congress note with dismay the state of insecurity nationwide, and ask the Federal Government to deploy more Security Personnel to fight the war as Nigeria is presently at war against insurgents, Boko Haram, Banditry and Isis, so that citizens do not resort to self-help in order to defend themselves.

5. Congress asks government to prosecute all those arrested, captured or who surrendered over insurgency, banditry and all forms of criminality.
State Police
6. Congress support state police, and ask the National Assembly to quickly amend constitution in this direction to give effect to the yearning of the Nigerian people.
PIA (Petroleum Industry Act)
7. Congress commends the Federal Government for the passage of the petroleum industry bill into law and asks that government must in future improve on the legislation; however government must monitor the implementation of the law, to avoid corrupt practices.
Haiti
8. Congress sympathizes with the people of Haiti over the earthquake and asks the World, United Nations, Christians and all people of good will to help send reliefs, aids to the people in other to return the country to normalcy after this disaster. Congress further ask United Nation, Christian Organization, especially Christian Association of Nigeria to synergize with other NGOs all over the world to send humanitarian aids to other flash point all over the world having humanitarian crises
Voters Registration
9. Congress admonishes Baptist men who have no voter’s card and are above 19 years of age to take advantage of the online Registration of voters.
