The Executive Vice Chairman/CEO of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), Prof. Umar Danbatta said that communication was key in modern military warfare.
The NCC boss said this at the one-day Educational visit of Officers and Cadets of the 72 Regular Course of the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) to the Commission’s headquarters in Abuja.
THE CONCLAVE reports that the visit was part of the Industrial Attachment programme of the Cadets of the NDA who were pursuing a degree in Computer Science.
The NCC boss warmly welcomed the young Cadets and their trainers, urging them to ask any questions they needed clarifications on, and assured them that his team of competent Directors was on hand to provide sufficient answers.
Danbatta told his visitors that as military students and future Commanders, it was necessary to give cyber security prominence and to do everything possible to “keep our data safe.”
He reminded them that “electronics combat readiness entailed destroying the enemies without facing them physically.”
Speaking earlier, Head of Computer, Nigerian Defence Academy, Dr Abraham Evwiekpaefe, on behalf of the Officers and Cadets of the 72 Regular Course, said that the visit was part of the Nigerian Universities Commission, NUC’s requirement to visit institutions such as the NCC for the award of Degree in Computer Science.
He said: “We’re here with our Cadets to learn. We’re here to collaborate and hope that the visit would be worthwhile.”
