The Consulate-General of the People’s Republic of China in Lagos has donated multimedia gadgets to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), reaffirming cooperation between the mission and the agency.
The Consul-General, Ms Yan Yuqing, handed over the gadgets to NAN on Wednesday in Lagos.
She said that the donation was in demonstration of the mission’s commitment to strengthening bilateral cooperation between China and Nigeria.
“I am glad that our consulate has a close relationship with the agency in Lagos and believe the donation will go a long way to improve the work being done by NAN.
“In 2026, we will have improved cooperation because next year marks the 55th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between our countries,” she said.

She added that 2026 would also be the China-Africa year of people-to-people exchange.
According to her, the consulate will continue to provide opportunities for journalists to experience China’s culture because “culture knows no boundaries”.
NAN reports that the items donated include video/photo cameras and lenses, camera lights, microphones and studio speakers.
Receiving the equipment, Mr Kevin Okunzuwa, a Deputy Editor-in-Chief, who represented the Acting Head of Lagos Office of NAN, Mrs Ifeyinwa Omowole, thanked the consulate- general for the gesture.
He said that the donation would help NAN to produce quality multimedia content.
“This is a new beginning between Nigeria and the Chinese Government as well as NAN and our media partner, Xinhua,” he said.
