China–Nigeria trade hits $20bn as envoy backs education support

China’s Consul General in Lagos, Yan Yuqing, says trade between Nigeria and China has grown to $20 billion in 2025, reflecting the deepening economic ties between both countries.

Yuqing highlighted the milestone during the 2025 edition of the Annual Schools’ Quiz and Debate Competition organised by the Ogun–Guangdong Free Trade Zone (OGFTZ) at the Community Civic Centre in Images.

She said the rising trade volume underscores the need for China to strengthen cultural and educational exchanges with Nigeria
