Syrian Government forces and the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) have reached a ceasefire, official media reported on Tuesday, after clashes killed two people in the northern city of Aleppo.
One civilian was killed and five were injured due to rocket shelling by the SDF, the civil defence force said.
Earlier, the official Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) reported that one member of the security forces was killed and three were injured after clashes broke out on Monday.
SANA reported that a ceasefire agreement was reached late Monday, after SDF forces attacked Syrian security checkpoints near Aleppo’s Sheikh Maqsood neighbourhood and shelled nearby residential areas.
British-based watchdog the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported “cautious calm” in the area after the ceasefire.

The clashes erupted after the army redeployed in northern and north-eastern Syria, near the front lines with the SDF.
It said, though the Defence Ministry said that the army’s recent movements were part of planned redeployment, not the start of new military operations, according to SANA.
The SDF denied reports that its fighters had attacked Syrian government positions and said the clashes were “a direct result of the provocations” of the government forces and their attempts to advance with tanks.
