The Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, has, for the second time in a day, flagged yet another fake news credited to it.
The apex bank has unofficially rebutted a supposed special information doing the rounds to the effect that it was planning to shut down financial transactions from February 23 to 27, 2023.
In the unsigned special information, Nigerians were advised to “go and stock your home….”

The special information reads: “Anyhow you can get money between today and tomorrow, get and keep it. Also whatever transfer you want to do, do it between today and tomorrow. Information (I) am hearing is that, as from Thursday, bank network will go off till Sunday or Mondsy, so that politician will not be able to transfer money to anybody for vote. So, buy enough food at home, do ur (your) transfer now because the next five days will be difficult, pls.”
The CBN, according to credible feelers reaching THE CONCLAVE, has dissociated itself from the purported plan to shut down banking transactions.
The special information, just as the morning press statement that was shared by some hackers through the Instagram account/Facebook page of the First Lady, Aisha Buhari, has received the “fake news” stamp by the CBN.
