The Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar, has approved the appointment of Air Commodore Olusola Akinboyewa as the new Director of Public Relations and Information (DOPRI) for the Nigerian Air Force (NAF).
The appointment was announced by Group Captain Kabiru Ali, Deputy Director of Public Relations and Information, Nigerian Air Force.
This appointment coincides with the redeployment of the former DOPRI, Air Vice Marshal (AVM) Edward Gabkwet, who will now serve as Director of Coordination and Cooperation in the newly established Civil-Military Relations Branch of the NAF.
These strategic moves are aimed at enhancing the Nigerian Air Force’s public and community engagement efforts. As DOPRI, Air Commodore Akinboyewa will be responsible for managing media engagements, overseeing strategic communications, and fostering transparency and public trust in NAF operations. His predecessor, AVM Gabkwet, will focus on strengthening civil-military relations in his new role.
Akinboyewa, who hails from Ondo State, is a graduate of the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA), with further qualifications in Telecommunications and Electronics Engineering, and a Master’s degree in Security and Strategic Studies. He has a distinguished military career, with numerous key command positions and is a Fellow of the National Defence College.
