The Kaduna State chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has disclosed that bandits collected N250 million ransom to free 120 pupils of Bethel Baptist High School in Kaduna, who were kidnapped in July 2021.

I21 pupils were initially kidnapped by the bandits.

Following the payment of ransom, 120 pupils were released in batches, but one of the pupils, Treasure Ayuba, was not released.

Ayuba, after two years and four months, escaped from his captors and found his way home about a week ago.

However, Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, while receiving the parents and family of Ayuba led by the Kaduna CAN Chairman, Rev. John Hayab, at the Government House on Wednesday, said his administration had put machinery in place to ensure the safety of pupils and students in schools across the state.

Sani said the government would support Ayuba by giving him psychosocial treatment to address the trauma he must have gone through while in captivity for over two years.
