▪︎Urges authorities to step up rescue efforts
President Muhammadu Buhari has commiserated with families who lost loved ones in the 21-storey building that collapsed on Monday in Lagos.
In a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, President Buhari shared the sad moment with people and Government of Lagos State, urging authorities to step up efforts in rescue operations, while emergency institutions, including hospitals, should provide all the necessary support to safe lives of the rescued.
The President prayed for God’s intervention in the ongoing rescue operations.
Lagos State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, said Governor Sanwo-Olu had ordered an investigation into the incident.
He said three persons had been rescued, as the operations to save more lives continued.
Omotoso said Lagos Rescue Unit (LRU), Lagos State Fire Service and Lagos State Ambulance Services (LASAMBUS) were on the site, battling to save the lives of those under the rubbles.
