Two outgoing Ambassadors were hosted to farewell audiences at State House, Abuja, Thursday, by President Muhammadu Buhari, and they had kind words to say about their tour of duty in Nigeria.

The Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, stated that His Excellency, Dr Eustaquio Januario Quibato of the Republic of Angola, thanked President Buhari for his wise leadership, anti-corruption efforts, and success in degrading the Boko Haram insurgency.

Quibato also commended the President for repositioning the Nigerian economy to be less import-dependent.

President Buhari, in turn, praised Nigeria’s role in liberating Angola and reiterated the country’s commitment to helping sister African nations.

He also emphasized that democracy was still the best option despite the military coups happening in some parts of the continent.

In another audience, President Buhari received the outgoing Ambassador of United Arab Emirates (UAE), Dr Fahad Obaid Al Taffaq, who expressed his appreciation for the good impression Nigeria made on him during his five-year stay.

The President assured Dr Taffaq that the two countries will continue to improve their relationship, given the many things they have in common.

Dr Taffaq pledged to continue working on the details of their relationship and promised to maintain his connection with Nigeria in different capacities.

He added that he made many friends in government, the private sector, and civil society during his extensive travels across Nigeria, and that he has gained a deeper understanding of the people’s diversity and culture.
