The National Association of Resident Doctors (NARD) has voted to call off its week-long strike.
The doctors had begun the action on Monday, June 15.
Their decision was consequent upon a number of disagreements regarding hazard allowance and safety of health workers in the  COVID-19 frontline.
Reports indicate that the NARD had agreed at its meeting Sunday morning to call off the action that had grounded operations in public hospitals and worsened health care delivery amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
The early indications were contained in a terse message reportedly issued to members.
It reads:  “Dear colleagues, rising from NARD eNEC today, the ongoing total and indefinite strike action is hereby suspended and work resumes effectively on Monday 22/06/020 from 8:00 am.”
There were indications as of the time of filing this report that a much detailed statement would be issued by the NARD ahead of resumption of work on Monday.
