Barely 20 hours to the Ekiti State governorship election, influential party leaders in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and All Progressive Congress (APC) in Ekiti State have called on their party members and supporters to vote for Segun Oni as the adopted governor of Ekiti People.
“Olusegun Adebayo Oni, the candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), is the Ekiti Consensus for the governorship seat of our state,” affirmed on Friday by Prince Dayo Adeyeye of the APC, Yemi Arokodare of the PDP and other party leaders and candidates, after an emergency meeting in Ado Ekiti, said a source at the meeting.
Those in attendance at the top-secret political gathering, according to a source, included some Senatorial and House of Representatives candidates of the PDP and APC.
They agreed that “it is time to send packing from Ekiti politics, the political slave drivers – Kayode Fayemi and Ayo Fayose.
“The two political merchants have cornered the resources of Ekiti people and have become individually richer than the state,” the top inter-party leaders agreed.
It was also said that since Segun Oni would be spending a single term, it would give the aggrieved governorship aspirants in the PDP and APC an opportunity to re-contest in the next four years.
Segun Oni has been tipped as the clear favourite to win the governorship election on Saturday, June 18, 2022.
