Katsina State Governor Aminu Bello Masari has announced that one Dr Aliyu Yakubu, a private medical practitioner in Daura has died from contracting Covid-19.
Masari disclosed to journalists during a press briefing that Dr Aliyu Yakubu who was running a private clinic travelled to Lagos recently and upon return took himself to Air Force Hospital in Daura where he died two hours later.
He said samples of his blood were taken to Abuja where he was confirmed to have contracted Covid-19 and has hepatitis along with hypertension.
The Governor explained that a directive had been issued for all the people that the deceased had contact with to be traced and their samples be sent to either Abuja or Lagos for testing.
He assured that the government would not leave any stone upturn to curtail the spread of Covid-19 in the state.
