The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has begun the upload of polling units’ results on its results portals.
The process, which began about a week after the February 25 presidential and National Assembly elections, and about three days after the declaration of Senator Bola Tinubu, candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, as president-elect, is being intensified as more results were being uploaded as of press time.
THE CONCLAVE reports that leaders of political parties especially the opposition parties have lauched a frenzied scrutiny, through their relevant committees, of the results uploaded in a bid to corroborate what had been uploaded with results they got from the units through their agents.
The exercise will help to either strengthen or weaken the basis of the claim of rigging and manipulation of results that the frontline parties have been bandying against one another.
THE CONCLAVE reports that interested Nigerians in the integrity of the process that produced Tinubu as president-elect can visit to verify their units’ results announced on the Election Day if they are in sync with what have been uploaded by the Commission.
A commentator said that the speed with which INEC was uploading the results now was “alarming and shocking.”
The process and the outcome of the presidential poll, as gathered, have now engaged more than ever the attention of members of the international community, especially the US and the UK governments.
The results are being clinically scrutinised to ensure that the process was not flawed and, if flawed, it would form the basis for a review of their earlier endorsements.
