A luminous epoch in business, politics and power game in the epicentre of governance in Nigeria has ended somewhat abruptly with the death of Mallam Ismaila Isa Funtua.
Funtua, a very influential figure in Nigeria from Katdins State and a close ally of President Muhammadu Buhari, reportedly died of a massive heart attack on Monday in Abuja.
A very close ally of the publisher of Vanguard newspapers, Mr Sam Amuka, little wonder therefore that it was Vanguard that authoritatively broke the news of his passing.
Funtua was also a newspaper patron and media leader who defined his eon and established his influence on the media industry.
He reportedly died in Abuja while undergoing routine medical check-up. He was 78 years old.
