Members of the Adamawa State House of Assembly, on Wednesday, almost exchanged blows over the sharing formula of agricultural loans’ forms provided by the North East Commodity Association (NECAS).
The Assembly had reconvened on Wednesday to address some teething issues including the distribution of the loans’ forms to their constituencies.
However, tension rose during the Executive session held in the speaker’s office, when members openly disagreed with each other over the modalities for the equitable sharing of the facilities among them.
The speaker, Rt Hon. Aminu Iya Abbass, tried to calm frayed nerves, following the hot argument between Hon Abdullahi Umar Yapak, representing Fulfore constituency and Hon Alhassan Hammanjoda of Ganye constituency, before journalists were ordered to vacate the vicinity of the meeting due to the hot exchange.
Only last week, the Adamawa House of Assembly was forced to hurriedly adjourn and all standing committees of the house dissolved following attempts to make the Speaker to answer some questions pertaining to the welfare of the house.
