The Executive Chairman of Brass Local Government Area, Hon. Lucky Febo, has vowed to eradicate the growing menace of illicit and hard drugs in the council, issuing a stern warning to dealers, peddlers, and users that the era of impunity is over.
The directive followed a viral social media appeal on November 17, 2025, which alerted the council leadership to the rapid spread of substance abuse, particularly among youths in several riverine communities.
In a Statement signed by his Press Secretary, Provide Ayebaine, the chairman described the situation as “unacceptable and dangerous,” saying it poses an existential threat to the future of the area’s young population and overall public safety.
Hon. Febo mobilized security agencies, directing them to step up intelligence gathering, raid known drug spots, disrupt distribution networks, and ensure arrests lead to prosecution.
“My administration will not fold its arms while criminal elements destroy our children and communities with hard drugs. Anyone caught will face the full weight of the law,” he warned.
The council boss also announced plans for sustained partnership with traditional rulers, youth bodies, religious leaders, and civil society organizations to sustain the anti-drug campaign.

The Brass Local Government Council reaffirmed its determination to restore sanity and protect the health and future of its people by making the area completely inhospitable to drug traffickers and abusers.
