Sustaining the recent gains on Boko Haram
and issue of resettlement of displaced persons in the ongoing Boko Haram insurgency topped the agenda of the meeting between President Muhammadu Buhari and leaders of Borno and Yobe States on Tuesday in Abuja.

Borno and Yobe States’ delegation was led to the meeting that took place in Aso Rock by Borno Governor Babagana Zulum supported by his Yobe counterpart, Mai Mala Buni with monarchs and elders of both States on the delegation.
A statement on Tuesday by the spokesperson of Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum, Mallam Isa Gusau said the team from the two states was led by his principal.
The statement said Borno State Governor, Prof. Zulum, on Tuesday led a high-level delegation of elders and stakeholders from Borno and Yobe States to a meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential Villa.
He disclosed that the delegation had on it Governor of Yobe State, Mai-Mala Buni, former governors of Borno State, Ashiek Jarma and Senator Kashim Shettima, Shehu of Borno, Alhaji Garbai Elkanemi, and Emir of Fika, Alhaji Muhammadu Idrissa.
He said: “The high-level meeting, it was learnt, focused on sustaining recent gains made by the military in the fight against Boko Haram in the northeast.
“The interaction also discussed resettlement of the internally displaced persons to communities and villages that are safe, rehabilitation and reconstruction of major Federal roads in Borno and Yobe states, among others.”
He said Zulum told journalists after the meeting that the President had assured the delegation of sustained military offensive in the ongoing operations in Borno and other parts of the northeast.
