Borno State Government is to partner the National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) at ridding the state of drug abuse and addiction.

Speaking on the partnership, Borno Governor, Prof. Babagana Zulum, said it would effectively enable the NDLEA to discharge its responsibilities of working at making Borno a drug-free society.

The governor spoke on the partnership on Thursday in Maiduguri while inspecting 10,522 kilogrammes of seized cannabis. “We are doing everything possible to rid the state of drug abuse and addiction and other societal vices among the teeming youths” he said

Zulum promised that no stone would be left unturned in ensuring a sustained drug-free state.

The governor also commended staff members of the Agency for doing a good job of fighting against drug abuse and addiction in various communities.

“Borno can only be made a drug-free society, when collaborative efforts of government and agency are geared towards reducing societal vices, terrorism and poverty,” he said.
