At 19, Mirra Andreeva just rewrote tennis history in Paris.

The Russian teenager dismantled qualifier Maja Chwalinska 6-3, 6-2 on Saturday to claim her first Grand Slam title at Roland Garros — and did it with the poise of a veteran, not a teenager.

With that win, Andreeva became the youngest women’s singles champion at the French Open since Monica Seles, aged 18, completed a three-peat in 1992. She also became the first player, male or female, born after 2005 to lift a major trophy.

The Coupe Suzanne Lenglen now takes pride of place in a trophy cabinet that already holds two WTA 1000 titles. In barely two seasons, Andreeva has gone from prospect to queen of clay.

–Chwalinska’s fairytale ends, but not her story

For Chwalinska, defeat was still a triumph. The 24-year-old Pole started in qualifying and won nine matches in Paris — the first qualifier, male or female, to reach a French Open final in the Open Era.

The world No. 114 will leap to a career-high No. 21 on Monday, guaranteeing her a seat at every major going forward. From anonymous qualifier to Grand Slam finalist in 14 days.

Andreeva’s power, court sense and nerve were simply too much. She broke early in both sets and never let go, closing it out in 1 hour 12 minutes to the roar of Court Philippe-Chatrier.

From Seles in 1992 to Andreeva in 2026 — Paris has crowned its next teenage icon.
