Abuja was hit by a widespread blackout on Saturday after the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company, AEDC, reported a technical fault on its network.
The outage affected high-profile locations including the Presidential Villa, the Supreme Court, and Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, AEDC said in a notice. Other areas hit include Lugbe, Asokoro, Central Area, and parts of Garki from Area 2 through Area 8.
The disruption also reached Bolingo Hotel, NAN, the Turkish, Sudan, Egypt, Pakistan and India embassies, National Hospital, National Planning Commission, and several government lodges and barracks. AEDC listed streets across Garki, Asokoro and Maitama among those affected, along with River Park Estate, Shoprite, Airport Road, and offices for Immigration, Customs, Correctional Services and Civil Defence.

“We regret the inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your patience and understanding,” the company said, apologizing to customers.
AEDC said the technical team of the Transmission Company of Nigeria, TCN, is working to restore supply to the affected areas.
