President Joe Biden said that former President Donald Trump’s selection of J.D. Vance as his running mate was an indication that he would surround himself with people who “agree completely with him” in a second administration.

In an interview with NBC’s Lester Holt Monday, Biden went after the Ohio senator’s record on issues such as abortion and climate change. The president also nodded to Vance’s past criticisms of Trump but said the senator had “signed on to the Trump agenda.”
In a post on X handle, Biden said: “Here’s the deal about J.D. Vance. He talks a big game about working people. But now, he and Trump want to raise taxes on middle-class families while pushing more tax cuts for the rich.
“Well, I don’t intend to let them. And if you’re with me, pitch in: Protect Democracy. Defeat Trump-Vance.”
