“Crises do no good to anyone, and I want to appeal to our youths to avoid anything that is tantamount to causing restiveness within the community.

“You must at the same time be vigilant and report any suspicious persons and movement to the relevant security authorities.

“Your concerns as raised will be relayed to security agencies for measures to be taken to safeguard the community against further attacks and wanton destruction of lives and properties,” he said.

Uche urged members of the peace committee, which cut across the Tiv and Fulani herders, and encouraged them to work more closely towards maintaining peace in the community.

The legislator advised elders from both divides to monitor the movement of their wards so as to be able to fish out bad elements among them.

The items donated by the lawmaker included bags of rice, beans, garri, vegetable oil, and palm oil, as well as some clothes.

The Kindred Head of Mbabiem, Chief Tarhemba Ahuna, narrated how the incident occurred and the efforts by stakeholders to avoid escalation.

Ahuna commended the lawmaker for finding time to come around for firsthand information on the attack as well as condole with the bereaved family and the entire community over their loss.

Also speaking, elder Adi Fidelis, a community leader, called on the youths of the community never to take laws into their own hands by seeking revenge.

Guma APC Chairman Lazarus Asema sympathised with the community over the unfortunate incident.

Asema urged the people to embrace peace with the herders within the community and whosoever that is connected to the act so as to prevent the matter from deteriorating further.

NAN reports that representatives of the Fulani were also present to receive the lawmaker and his delegation.
