Speaker of the 10th Benue Assembly, Mr. Hyacinth Dajoh, has reportedly resigned from his position.
In a handwritten letter, addressed to the Clerk of the House and signed by him, Dajoh said the resignation was “In good faith and in the best interest of the state.”
Recall that late last week, there was a “failed attempt” to remove the Speaker.
Four lawmakers believed to be behind the move were suspended.
However, in a sudden turn of events, Mr. Dajoh reportedly resigned from his position amid an air of doubts and uncertainty.
Dajoh, who is said to be fighting the state governor, had yet to formally speak to his purported resignation.
But report from Makurdi said that the State House of Assembly is holding an emergency sitting to formalise acceptance of Dajoh’s resignation and to elect a new speaker.

In the purported letter of resignation, Dajoh appreciated his colleagues for giving him the opportunity “to be the first among equals.”
Dajoh pledged to remain committed to his duties as a legislator and representative of Gboko West State Constituency.
He was said in a report by The New Times to have uploaded the letter of resignation to his Meta timeline, which reads, “Let there be peace.”
A check by THE CONCLAVE on the Facebook of Dajoh did not contain his purported letter of resignation.
The resignation, THE CONCLAVE kearnt from a grapevine, was done ahead of Monday, August 25, 2025, sitting of the House in plenary to stave off Dajoh’s removal.
