From the results released so far, the All Progressives Congress (APC) and its candidate, David Lyon, are in a wide lead after results from 6 Local Government Areas (LGAs).
Lyon has garnered 206,260 votes and has won in 4 LGAs.
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Senator Douye Diri, has polled 119,930 votes and has won in 2 LGAs.
The state has been under the firm grip of the PDP since 1999 but that hold is being seriously challenged by the APC.
There are eight Local government areas in Bayelsa State. With two to go, here are the results announced:
