The Barrister George Alabh Turnah-led Bayelsa State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has commended FCT Minister Nyesom Ezenwo Wike and the G5 members for their steadfast leadership and dedication to the party’s unity and survival.
In a statement by the State’s Caretaker Committee Publicity Secretary, Mr. Derri Alasuote Wright, the party hailed the recent Abuja meeting on June 9, 2025, as a clear demonstration of Wike’s, along with former Governors Samuel Ortom, Okezie Ikpeazu, and Ifeanyi Ugwanyi’s, commitment to the PDP’s progress.
The statement partly read: “The Abuja meeting, uniting key leaders and stakeholders, reflects Wike’s deep love for the PDP and his resolute stand against impunity. His dedication to our party’s principles has earned him widespread admiration among committed members nationwide, and we salute his efforts to promote unity and integrity.”
The Bayelsa PDP fully supports the meeting’s resolutions, including the recognition of Senator Samuel Anyanwu as the National Secretary, emphasizing that the party’s Constitution and a recent Supreme Court ruling leave no room for debate on this matter.
The chapter also endorsed the decision to zone the PDP’s 2027 presidential ticket to the Southern region, describing it as a move that reflects inclusivity and responsiveness to Nigerians’ aspirations.
“Bayelsa PDP stands firmly behind Wike as our national leader and Senator Anyanwu as National Secretary.
We are committed to the resolutions of the Abuja meeting and will work tirelessly to restore the PDP as a symbol of hope and justice for Nigerians,” the statement concluded.
