Bayelsa State Commissioner for Education, Dr. Gentle Emelah, has conducted an on-site inspection of the ongoing construction of the Government Technical College in Oporoma, headquarters of Southern Ijaw Local Government Area.
The visit was aimed at assessing the pace of work and confirm alignment with the Prosperity Administration’s education development agenda.
Dr. Emelah expressed satisfaction with the remarkable progress recorded since the project began earlier this year, noting that several structures have already reached roofing stage.
Speaking at the site, the Commissioner commended the contractors for their quality delivery and urged other firms handling state projects to accelerate efforts, warning that the administration would not tolerate delays.
“I must commend the contractors for the impressive performance recorded here so far.
This level of commitment is encouraging, and I call on other contractors whose projects are still at ground level to brace up, as this administration will not tolerate delay in project execution,” he said.
Dr. Emelah described the project as historic, highlighting Governor Senator Douye Diri’s commitment to balanced development across the state.

“It is historic that our dear Governor, His Excellency Senator Douye Diri, is not only bringing road infrastructure to Oporoma but is also bringing Technical Education to the headquarters of Southern Ijaw Local Government Area.

He expressed optimism that the dreams of Bayelsa’s founding fathers are being realised through such initiatives and reaffirmed the Ministry of Education’s support for policies that strengthen technical and vocational education to equip the state’s youths with practical skills.
