The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Bayelsa State has elected members of its new State Working Committee with Hon. Warman Weri Ogoriba as Chairman to pilots it’s affairs for the next four years.
The election, held by consensus on Tuesday at the Gabriel Okara Cultural Centre in Yenagoa, was described by Governor Senator Douye Diri as the first truly peaceful and rancour-free state congress in the party’s history in the state.

Governor Diri, who witnessed the exercise, praised the large turnout of delegates, party leaders and members, noting it marked a sharp departure from previous APC congresses that were plagued by conflicts and violence.

He charged the new executive to see themselves as torch bearers of the party, remain loyal to the APC at national and state levels rather than individuals, eliminate factions and work harmoniously to strengthen the party.

In his welcome address, outgone caretaker committee chairman Dr. Dennis Otiotio lauded Governor Diri’s inclusive leadership for reconciling all warring factions and delivering unified ward, local government and state congresses whose outcomes were accepted by all.

Former Deputy Governor Rt. Hon. Peremobowei Ebebi moved the motion for the dissolution of the former executive, seconded by Speaker Rt. Hon. Abraham Ingobere.
In his acceptance remarks, New Chairman Hon. Warman Ogoriba, a former member of the House of Representatives, assured that the 37-member executive would sustain party unity to win future elections and commended Governor Diri for unifying the APC.
The congress was supervised by the APC state congress committee led by Zakari Adimbo and monitored by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). Legal practitioner Mr. Stanley Damabide administered the oath of office.
Other key members of the new executive include Ayobegha James (Deputy Chairman), Barr. Japan Odoji (Secretary), Luke Demeoru (Assistant Secretary), and James Inengite (Publicity Secretary), among others.
