Bandits on Sunday stormed a church in Ejiba, Yagba West Local Government Area of Kogi State, seizing a pastor, his wife, and several congregants.
The attackers reportedly struck during a service at a newly established Cherubim and Seraphim Church, according to a community-based news platform.
Worshippers were said to have fled in different directions as the gunmen advanced, but the church leader, popularly called Orlando, his wife, and others were captured in the raid.
The incident threw the community into panic, further raising concerns over recurring insecurity in parts of Kogi.

The latest attack came barely 24 hours after another armed gang struck on the Isanlu Makutu–Idofin road in neighbouring Yagba East Local Government Area, forcing residents and travellers to scamper for safety.
Witnesses said the Saturday afternoon assault caused widespread fear across the axis.
Authorities and locals said the exact number of abducted victims from Sunday’s invasion had yet to be verified as information continues to unfold.
