President Muhammadu Buhari on Friday dispatched the heads of the nation’s intelligence and security services to Sokoto and Katsina States.
This was sequel to the disturbing spate of killings in both states.
The delegation led by the National Security Adviser, Major General Babagana
Monguno (retd) is made up of the Inspector-General of Police, Usman Alkali Baba; the Director-General of the DSS, Yusuf Magaji Bichi; the Director-General, National Intelligence Agency, Ambassador Ahmed Rufa’i Abubakar and the Chief of Defence Intelligence, Major General Samuel Adebayo.
The President, according to his media aide, Malam Garba Shehu, was expecting an immediate situation report and recommendations on actions to follow to effectively deal with the situation.
In Sokoto, no fewer than 25 travellers were burnt to death on Monday by bandits.
Several others were kidnapped by the bandits in the same attack.
A commissioner was assassinated on Thursday in Katsina State.
