Former Governor of Ekiti State, Chief Olusegun Oni, has condoled with the family of Alhaji Lateef Jakande, the government and good people of Lagos, on the passing unto glory of the beloved leader.
The consummate elder statesman and first civilian governor of the state, Pa Jakande, died at the age of 91.
In a statement, the former Governor described the late Jakande as the last of the Mohicans of Awolowo’s UPN Governors.
He said the death of Alhaji Jakande marked the end of an eventful political era defined by selfless service, solid developments, honour and courage.
Oni further stated that the Jakande housing revolution and development strides as the governor of Lagos State, were legendary, innovative and had remained reference points across generations.
He said Jakande was a gentleman par excellence who lived a life of purpose as a courageous journalist, an outstanding public administrator and a respected politician.
He prayed Allah to grant him Aljanah Firdaus.
