As the August by-elections in some Constituencies in the country draws nearer, the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC- recognised National Chairman of the Social Democrats Party, SDP, Alhaji Shehu Gabam, has said that all the candidates of the party already nominated for the polls would be on the ballot as scheduled
Speaking in Abuja on Monday while reacting to the exclusions of the Party’s candidates in the elections by Independent National Electoral Commission INEC along with those of the Labour Party, LP, Alhaji Gabam explained that he had been engaging with the Electoral Commission on the best way to resolve the issues raised by it that warranted the exclusion of the Candidates in the first instance
According to him, “there is no course for concerns on the exclusions of our Party’s Candidates by the INEC in the August by-elections in some Constituencies in the country due to the inconsistent in the mandatory signatories on the nomination list; we are engaging the Commission diplomatically on this and we are not blaming the Commission but the good thing is for our Candidates to be on the ballot.”
He expressed optimism that the SDP would take the nation by surprise with the outcome of the elections based on the field reports on the acceptability of the Party, which Nigerians have been waiting for.
